Chris Noth is shrugging off the heated discourse surrounding his response to an Instagram comment about his longtime “Sex and the City” co-star Sarah Jessica Parker.
On Wednesday, the actor shared a brief statement on Instagram in which he called the brouhaha “a waste of time in a world where there are more important things to worry about.”
“My off the cuff slightly sarcastic response to a comment on the internet seems to have caused a tempest in a teapot,” he wrote. “It is not news. It is not worth all this discussion.”

Last week, Noth raised the eyebrows of longtime “SATC” fans when he seemed to echo the sentiments of one of his social media followers, who commented on his New Year’s-themed workout post with a jab at Parker.
“You mean fcuk sjp & her award right? lol,” the person wrote on Instagram, to which Noth responded, “Right.”

Noth, whose credits include “Law & Order” and “The Good Wife,” portrayed Mr. Big, the longtime love interest of Parker’s Carrie Bradshaw, on all six seasons of HBO’s “Sex and the City” and in the franchise’s two feature films.
The actor reprised the role of Mr. Big in “And Just Like That…,” HBO Max’s divisive “Sex and the City” revival series. His tenure on that show was brief, as Mr. Big died of a heart attack in the Season 1 premiere.
Noth’s exit from the franchise, however, was marred by controversy. Shortly after “And Just Like That…” debuted in 2021, the actor was accused of sexual assault by two women. Though Noth deemed the allegations “categorically false,” scenes featuring Mr. Big in the Season 1 finale of “And Just Like That…” were reportedly removed before the episode hit the airwaves in 2022.
By all accounts, Noth has appeared to remain on good terms with Parker. Speaking to The Guardian in 2021, he described their relationship as “very close” while defending Parker amid reports of a longstanding feud between her and another “SATC” actor, Kim Cattrall.
After a brief hiatus from Hollywood, Noth returned to acting last year in the horror film “The Block,” co-starring Jack Falahee of “How to Get Away with Murder.”
