Six years after HBO’s “Game of Thrones” concluded its smash run, actors Kit Harington and Sophie Turner have reunited in a new movie that might have their fans feeling a bit uneasy at first.
Harington and Turner are the romantic leads of “The Dreadful,” due out Feb. 20. The Gothic horror film takes place in 15th-century England and follows Anne (played by Turner), who finds herself caught between her domineering mother-in-law, Morwen (Marcia Gay Harden), and a new love interest, Jago (Harington), after her husband goes missing in action during a war.
Meanwhile, a mysterious knight also arrives in Anne’s village, bringing with him an evil curse.

Some fans might take pause at seeing Harington and Turner portray love interests, as the actors played siblings Jon Snow and Sansa Stark, respectfully, on “Game of Thrones,” which aired from 2011 to 2019.
Turner seems to have predicted this reaction among “GoT” devotees, and acknowledged having some reservations after she read the script for “The Dreadful” for the first time.
“I sent the script to Kit, and he kind of sent me a message back going like, I’d love to, but this is going to be really fucking weird, Soph,’” Turner recalled in an interview on “Late Night with Seth Meyers” last August. “I was like, ‘What is he talking about?’ And then I was reading it, and I’m like, ‘Kiss, kiss, sex, kiss, kiss,’ And then I’m like, ‘Oh shoot, that’s my brother!’”

Turns out, those feelings didn’t immediately dissipate once the two arrived on set. Speaking to E! News in November, Harington said acting opposite Turner once again was a “weird” experience, and not just because of their make-believe family relations.
“It was slightly embarrassing, having to get on an apple box to kiss her because she’s about a foot taller than me,” he quipped. “But other than that, my dignity was pretty intact.”
Writer-director Natasha Kermani, however, was grateful to be directing actors who had years of experience working together.
“To see Kit and Sophie back together onscreen was a special thrill,” she told Entertainment Weekly in an interview published this week. “Their friendship and chemistry is impossible to miss and one of my favorite aspects of the film.”
