Pets Love This Self-Warming Mat That Doesn’t Use Electricity

On Amazon, Colorado-based K&H Pet Products offers two slightly different warming pads ideal for smaller dogs and cats, both made of a two-layer microfleece material that repurposes your pet’s body heat and radiating warmth back to them. There’s a small fleece-topped mat that’s available in a 21-inch sizes and similar option with flexible corners intended for use inside a crate, available in a small (25-inch) and large (57-inch) sizes. A huge bonus: The brand promises that the fabric is machine-washable.

Shoppers may appreciate that the mat doesn’t require electricity but, according to reviewer feedback, still functions beautifully.

Cats and dogs would benefit from this self-warming pad, but smaller and older animals might enjoy it the most. Not only does it help regulate their temperature, but it also prioritizes their comfort. Now their favorite spot on the windowsill can be enjoyed despite the frigid weather.

Amazon reviewers had much to say about this warming pad, but the common theme was that they could tell their pets loved it because the pets actually use it. “I can tell that the self warming technology really works [because] on very cold nights they stay on their own bed instead of snuggling up together in one the way they used to,” one shopper wrote. Another one agreed, and highlighted how great the pad is for her elderly dog. “I have this on the couch for my elderly arthritis dog. He has other places he can lay but he chooses this mat every time. He has plenty of room for his whole body, too,” they wrote.

Others admitted to using the pad for themselves because it is that comfortable. One shopper said her daughter now shares it with their dog. “She 72% fhas it at the foot of her bed and uses it to keep her feet warm at night! She also sleeps with the shih-tzu and he lays on it beside her feet,” they said.

If you’re not sold on the self-warming crate pad, see what 72% of shoppers who gave it a five-star rating had to say.

“My dog loved this mat! He was an outside dog, and with the upcoming winter months, staying warm was necessary. I placed this mat on his dog bed and he laid on it whenever he could! He used to greet me whenever I came out to feed him in the morning, but when this mat was introduced, he preferred to stay put!! It’s safe to say that it does the job! It holds up pretty well in the washer and dryer as well!

Overall, using it is very easy. It’s lightweight but it kept my dog comfortable during winter nights!” — Kentucky Rojas

“I have a 5+ year old cat that I feed. Because she is feral, she lives outside 24/7. Even though the weather is milder where we live in California, it can still get down to freezing sometimes in the winter. She is a small cat and I was worried about her keeping warm at night. I bought one of these mats and put it in her little house that she sleeps in. She took to it immediately. In fact, she took to it so well that I bought another mat for her “daytime” box. She took to that right away. So, I bought another one for the bench where she hangs out during the day and that is now her favorite spot on during the day. I highly recommend these mats.” — Ms. Mellow

”I bought the extra small for my cat. The 14″ by 22″. It also fits perfectly in her sleepypod air carrier. I always find her sleeping in there when it gets chillier in the house. I’ve had it for a few months now and I have no complaints. She threw up on it once and it was very easy to clean. Threw it in the washer and I just let it air-dry afterwards. I’m not confident enough to throw it in the dryer since it has that special lining inside that I’m afraid will get messed up somehow if I do.

I even got the biggest size for myself. It honestly keeps me very comfortable in the coldest room in my house. I keep it draped on the love seat where I sit most of the time and my cat will sit right next to me on the pad with me.

It doesn’t make you sweat. Unless you insist on wearing afrillion layers of clothing and blankets then yes you will get a bit too warm.

Both sizes I bought are the tan color. I love that you don’t need electricity for these to work, for me that’s a huge advantage in more ways than one.

Update: I bought a couple more of these pads to put in other beds around the house for my furbaby. As soon as I put one of the new ones in another bed, she went straight for it. I went to pick her up an hour later and she was very cozy and warm- so yeah it works. Mom and furbaby approved.” — BabyMidnight
