Sarah Jessica Parker Accepts Prestigious Carol Burnett Award

It’s Golden Globes week, and a few statuettes have already been handed out. On Tuesday, Sarah Jessica Parker received the 2026 Carol Burnett Award, which honors “outstanding contributions to television on or off the screen.”

The ceremony aired on CBS and Paramount+ on Thursday night.

Parker’s “Sex and the City” co-stars, including Kristin Davis, Evan Handler and David Eigenberg, attended the ceremony. Her husband Matthew Broderick and son James Wilkie were in attendance. Helen Mirren was also presented the 2026 Cecil B. DeMille Award at the event.

Parker paid homage to TV legend Burnett, whom she calls “gracious, generous and oh, so loving.”

Of course, she shouted out her iconic role as Carrie Bradshaw in HBO’s “Sex and the City,” for which she won two Emmys and six Golden Globe Awards.

“I met Carrie Bradshaw, Charlotte York, Samantha Jones and Miranda Hobbs, and I spent 25 years with the most glorious ensemble of women and actors, where we treated all of New York like CBS Television City and the streets like studio 33,” Parker said in her acceptance speech. “I cherish every 15th hour on the set or 16th hour, every walk and talk, looking into your eyes for the hardest and silliest moments. As Kristin [Davis] once said, ‘You are in my bones.’”

Davis, who gave a tribute to Parker earlier in the ceremony, choked up in the audience while listening to her former cast mate’s remarks.

“‘Sex and the City’ has a lot of great themes, but my favorite theme is honoring the importance of friendship, of life, long chosen family, and that’s what you are to me,” Davis said through tears in her speech. “It is a joy to be with you in this life and to be here tonight.”

Parker also thanked HBO’s CEO Casey Bloys for allowing her “permanent residency” at the network.

The cable giant just ended the “Sex and the City” spinoff, “And Just Like That…,” after its third season in 2025.
