“Late Show” host Stephen Colbert said President Donald Trump “designated a new national bird” when he gave the finger to an autoworker who called him a “pedophile protector” as he toured a Ford facility in Detroit earlier this week.
“You got to hand it to that autoworker for getting under Trump’s skin like compound butter on a Thanksgiving turkey,” Colbert said. “And all because he brought up the Epstein files.”
That led Colbert to ask one blunt question.
“Where are the Epstein files?” Colbert asked, causing the audience to erupt. “Where are they?”
During the 2024 campaign, Trump and his allies repeatedly promised that, if elected, they would release all of the files related to late convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, who was once a close friend of the president. Instead, Trump and his team have spent the past year working to block the release of those same files.
Congress ultimately defied Trump and ordered the release of the files by Dec.19, 2025, but the Justice Department still has not fully complied.
“You signed a law mandating that you would have to release the Epstein files by the middle of last month, but you still haven’t,” Colbert reminded the president, then brought up the two words that triggered Trump during his tour of the auto plant. “It kind of makes you seem like a… what’s the phrase? Pedophile protector!”
The audience erupted again.
