And the award for starting and stopping a fire goes to …the caterers!
Gardner said the fire broke out in the backstage press room after “catering knocked over a coffee holder and the sterno underneath was lit. For a brief moment, the carpet was on fire and smoke wafted up around the curtains,” he wrote.
Catering staff can also be seen rushing around, trying to put out the fire and clean up.
“They put it out quickly fortunately. Yikes!” Gardner added.
Although the ceremony’s venue, The Beverly Hilton in Los Angeles, didn’t go up in flames, some of the looks from the event’s red carpet were pretty fire. Check them out here.
