As a 42-year-old woman, my skin care routine is just as important as taking my daily vitamins. Having clear, youthful skin is a flex I don’t take for granted. That’s because, in addition to using cleansers, moisturizers, and sunscreen, I’ve also introduced products like Olay’s Regenerist micro-sculpting cream for its anti-aging properties.
I never grow tired of hearing people say I look younger than my age. In fact, that compliment has pushed me to be more intentional about preventative skin care. I may not have pronounced fine lines and wrinkles yet, but if adding one more step to my routine can help prevent them from forming, especially when cold air and indoor heat can leave skin looking dull and dehydrated, I figured it was worth trying.
The winter months can bring out the worst in my skin. The harsh, frigid temperatures dry out my skin, so I needed an effective moisturizer to combat the cold while restoring hydration.
The micro-sculpting cream is said to hydrate, firm and smooth the skin, thanks to ingredients like hyaluronic acid, niacinamide and amino peptides. The brand recently upgraded its formula to include triple collagen peptides, which can improve wrinkles, and pro-vitamin B5, which hydrates the skin on a cellular level. These benefits are significant during the winter months, when cold temperatures and low humidity can compromise the skin’s barrier. With strong, promising claims, I wondered if this moisturizer was worth the hype.
My skin care routine is standard and tailored to manage my dark spots, occasional breakouts and hydration. I started with Urban Skin Rx’s dark spot cleanser, The Ordinary’s glycolic acid exfoliating toner, Urban Skin Rx’s even tone serum, Olay’s super cream during the day, Olay’s retinol 24 night moisturizer at night and I concluded with the micro-sculpting cream.
I immediately noticed the cream’s soft, velvety texture and how light it felt on my skin. It didn’t leave my face feeling greasy or oily. Instead, the cream went on with a smooth texture that felt like a primer.
I used Regenerist during my morning and nighttime routine for a month and a half. And while the brand boasts results in as few as five days, I can’t say I noticed significant anti-aging improvements. That could be because I used this as a preventative measure. However, my skin did look smoother. Regarding moisture, the micro-sculpting cream provided adequate hydration without leaving my face shiny, which I appreciate as someone with naturally oily skin.
Overall, I’d welcome the micro-sculpting cream to my skin care routine because I love the velvety texture and how it feels on my skin. It doesn’t feel heavy. In fact, it could function as a makeup primer. With an upgraded formula that includes triple collagen peptides, vitamin B5 and niacinamide, my face receives the strength, hydration and collagen support it needs.
